About The Converse Home

The Converse HomeA community of caring for 125 years, we celebrated this milestone birthday in 2011 with the Statute of Liberty, Mercedes-Benz and Coca-Cola.

Established in 1886 as a private, non-profit organization, we are well known for our warm, welcoming and home-like atmosphere.   First time visitors often say “I feel like I am in someone’s home”… and that is just the feeling we strive to create for each of our sixty six residents.

Currently licensed as a residential care home, we look forward, in 2012, to obtaining our assisted living license.

We are located in a quiet, residential neighborhood in the southern end of Burlington…..just minutes away from the University of Vermont, Fletcher Allen Health Care and the many activities and cultural offerings of the city.

The original part of The Converse Home was built in 1799 as a private mansion and, as one of the oldest buildings in the city, holds a place on the Historic Register.

With our most recent addition completed in 2005, we offer assisted care services in new one-bedroom and efficiency apartments. Gardenview, our memory care community, offers specialized services for those with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia.

Call today to schedule a tour and find out why, for over a century, seniors and their families have chosen to make The Converse Home their home.
