The Converse Home has a long history, over 125 years, of providing a warm, caring home for our residents and a great work environment for our staff. 

As a Resident Care Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the health, comfort, and well-being of our residents. This position includes assisting with daily care needs, administering medications, offering meaningful companionship, and helping maintain a supportive, respectful community environment. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of older adults.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
  • Administer medications accurately and safely in accordance with state regulations and community policies.
  • Provide compassionate, resident-centered care that supports dignity and independence.
  • Observe, document, and report changes in residents’ health or behavior to nursing staff.
  • Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment.
  • Build positive relationships and communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
  • Follow all safety protocols, care standards, and organizational procedures.
  • Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous caregiving or healthcare experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with medication administration required; LNA certification is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use a computer for documentation.
  • Compassionate, patient, and dependable.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.

Registered Nurse (RN)

We are currently looking for a full-time nurse to join our team Monday through Friday, day shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality nursing care with compassion and professionalism.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to care plans.
  • Monitor residents’ health status and report changes to the healthcare team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Educate and support residents and their families.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Current RN license in the state of Vermont.
  • Experience in assisted living, long-term care, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A team-oriented mindset with a compassionate, patient-centered approach.

We are currently looking for  FT and PT RCAs to work in both our traditional and memory care communities:

Maintenance Technician
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | Rotating On-Call | Burlington, VT

Are you a dependable, adaptable person who enjoys hands-on work in a team-oriented, mission-driven environment? The Converse Home, a non-profit assisted living community located in downtown Burlington, is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to help us keep our home safe, comfortable, and well-maintained for our residents.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform light maintenance tasks and minor home repairs as assigned by the Maintenance Director.
  • Assist with painting, refurbishing vacated apartments, and maintaining common areas.
  • Help with seasonal grounds care including mowing, raking, and snow removal.
  • Support flooring and basic facility upkeep.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation (one week per month, paid).

What We’re Looking For:

  • Someone who is compassionate, patient, and enjoys working with seniors.
  • A team player who’s flexible and ready to adapt to changing priorities.
  • General maintenance experience is preferred, but we’re willing to train the right candidate.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and be on your feet for most of the day.
